In 2022 we offered our first Fall CSA option with Mountain Roots Farm, a small farm also based in Ashe County that has been growing produce, meat, nursery items, and eggs since 2014. The fall CSA was a big success and we are now expanding to 15 weeks, making our local food available until the end of January!
Dates :
Our start date this year is October 15th. We will take off one week at Christmas and finish up on January 28th.
Shares :
To give you the best experience of produce from both farms we only offer full shares for the Fall CSA. Shares receive $25 of food each week. We also offer a weekly add on of meat, eggs, or extra produce. Every week we send out a meat list and extra products that are available to purchase that week.
Pick up Days:
We will have three options for pick up days.
You must CHOOSE ONE for the entire season!
Going to be away one week?
We understand that you might have vacation plans one week. With this in mind, we are offering the chance to make up ONE week if you have to miss. If you let us know one day in advance (so we don’t pick for you that week), we will give you a voucher worth the price of your weekly share ($25.00) to use at our booths at the Watauga County Farmers’ Market or the Boone Winter Farmers' Market.
It's winter in the High County, what can you guys possibly have for a CSA? I don't want to receive the same thing every week...
While it's true our growing season closes out around the middle and end of October in Ashe County, we use a variety or season extension methods to beat the weather. From frost cloth, to heated greenhouses, to growing specific varieties of storage crops stored in walk in coolers, we do our best to offer a wide variety of produce until the end of our CSA.
Last year the following crops were included in the CSA : spinach, arugula, green onions, dried onions, eggs, radishes, red and golden beets, lettuce, carrots, kale, rainbow chard, collards, turnip greens, several varieties of winter squash, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, parsnips, turnips, potatoes, red and green cabbage, tomatoes, sweet peppers, pumpkins.
